There are certain methods of applying hair extensions they are as follows
By weaving
This is a process, which you create a cornrow or track around the head and close to the scalp. Extension hair is sewn on the tracks. Your own hair lies over the tracks for a natural look
By fusion or strand by strand
This is a process done strand by strand in small sections. Using heated adhesive sticks made for extensions placed in a glue gun. Extension hair is added directly to your own hair. Your hair lies over the top for a natural look.
By bonding
This is the easiest method. Bonding glue is applied onto the weft of the extension hair and then applied at the root of your hair. This is a temporary method.
Clip-ins
Clips have been sewn onto human extensions hair. You may clip these in and out ourself.
This range of Wig-O-Mania wigs come in an average size with adjustable straps which can be tightened in the nape of the neck. The size is average. The only person that we would not recommend them for is some one with a particularly large skull because they would be too tight for them. Back to top
HOW DO I FIT OR PUT ON MY WIG?
Before putting on your wig, it is advisable to secure your hair in a wig net or wig cap, (as they are sometimes called,) in a similar colour to the wig you intend to wear. The wig net does not go over your ears but follows your natural hair line.
The label inside the wig goes to the back. All wigs should be worn with the cap structure of the wig following again around your natural hairline, without showing the wig net underneath so that they look as natural as possible.
Please do not wear them half way down your forehead like a hat or with your ears tucked inside. There are 2 shaped tabs that go above the ears and around the back of the ears. These must be level when the wig is put on. If one is higher than the other then the wig is on lopsided and should be adjusted.
Fringes are usually left a little longer so that if a person has a long forehead it will be ok. All other fringes can be cut to the suitable length required. Be very careful to only cut a very small amount of at a time because remember, once you have cut it you are stuck with it. Try to avoid cutting the bend or curl off as the fringe will then just lie straight down. Do not cut it until you are absolutely sure it is what you want.
Once in place check if the wig is tight enough. If it needs tightening take it off and adjust the straps inside at the nape until you are happy.
Once the wig is in place always brush slowly, starting at the bottom at the back using a rubber cushioned steel pin wig brush, working your way up your head, gently removing any tangles as you go to avoid damaging the wig cap or fibre.
You never brush initially right through from front to back as this will tighten any tangles that may occur and can cause breakage. This also applies to your own natural hair.
Do not use the brush that you use on your own natural hair on your wig as this will just transfer the grease from your own hair onto your wig. This way your wig will need washing less often.
If your wig has a skin top or skin parting, avoid brushing to the base of the skin top as this can damage it and cause the fibre to break off. Do not alter where the parting falls as this has been predestined and trying to alter it may cause the fibre to break.
After brushing into style, you may use a water soluble wig spray sparingly, to secure your style. Ordinary hair sprays are not suitable and will build up and spoil your wig.
When fitting your hairpiece take your own hair back into a ponytail, even if it is only a little short ponytail. Place the little pouch of your Pony Tail hairpiece over your own natural ponytail. Inside there is a draw string, make sure that the end of the draw string is hanging outside the hairpiece for the time being.
Also inside the little pouch there are 2 combs. The one at the top slides into your own hair above your own pony tail which helps to secure it in place. The second comb tucks into your own hair below your own ponytail again helping to secure it.
Now take the end of the draw string and tighten it with the toggle attached by sliding the toggle up the elastic to the desired place that you need it. Then tuck the ends of the elastic inside the little pouch and secure with a hairgrip if necessary. More hairgrips can be placed around the edge of the piece if required.
Your hairpiece can now be brushed into style quite easily using the same method as for wigs, starting at the ends and gradually working your way up and gently detangling any tangles as you go. Never brush briskly as this causes friction and friction causes heat which then spoils the fibre causing it to frizz.
Different styles can be made with your hairpiece especially the long Pony Tail. However remember that if you dress it in a tight plait, it will become crimped like your own hair would if you plaited it and it possibly wouldn't return to it's lovely sleek state.
A very loose plait effect should be ok. Never ever use curling tongues or straighteners on your hairpiece. Remember it is synthetic and it will melt unless it is specifically Hi-Heat.
Before you wash, gently brush out the tangles and hair spray. For tight curly or all over curl, do not use a brush - finger pick thoroughly and gently remove tangles.
In a sink or basin, mix with wig shampoo with tepid water and immerse wig. Gently swirl and let soak for 5 minutes. Rinse wig in cold water until all wig shampoo is removed.
Drying your wig
Wrap in a towel and gently pat out excess water. Do not twist, or brush your wig while wet. Gently fluff your damp wig. Allow to air dry on a wig stand. For a healthy shine, spray on your spray conditioner.
Conditioning your wig
We recommend that you apply spray conditioner to your wig each time you have worn it and then always keep it in it\s box until the next time it's put on, this will stop the fibre from drying out and looking thick and dull, it also prolongs the life of your wig.
